Based on our 5* Tour where you stay in 4 & 5 star beautiful
hotels and have the opportunity to sample the Cities by night as
well as by day, our 5* Plus Tour includes an extra one or two days
and nights where you stay in the beautiful Cortijo Las Salinas
which is set in the stunning Andalucian countryside outside of
Granada. At the Cortijo you have dinner, breakfast and lunch and
can relax, walk in the local olive groves and complement your tour
to truly experience what Andalucia has to offer. Because this tour is dedicated to you or your party the itinerary can often be flexible to suit your needs. |
Day 1: |
Arrival and subject to arrival time, we will take you for a few hours up to the lovely mountain village of Mijas overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. You stay at the Vincci 5* Posada del Patio hotel in Malaga. Ideally situated near the Cathedral and historic old City centre of Malaga, the delights of this traditional seaport are right on your doorstep. Spend the evening in Malaga, a stylish City with great sea food restaurants. |
Day 2: |
Spend the morning in the historic centre of Malaga where you can visit the Picasso Museum and the stunning Cathedral. We meet you at your hotel at lunch hour and take you to one of the great value seafood Chirringuitos by the sea. Sample fantastic sardines barbequed on an olive wood barbeque next to the Mediterranean. In the afternoon you can visit the Gibralfaro fortress overlooking Malaga with some great views and then the large Moorish Alcazaba. Late afternoon we drive across the stunning Sierra de las Nieves mountain range to beautiful scenic Ronda where, depending on availability, you stay at either the 4* Monte Lirio Hotel, a converted Palace of the Duke of Monte Lirio or the 4* Ronda Parador. Both are set overlooking the famous gorge. |
Day 3: |
You will spend the day relaxing and sightseeing in spectacular Ronda. Maybe take a ride around the old town in horse drawn carriages and wonder at the sheer magnificence of the town perched along the cliff top of the Tajo gorge. Wander through the elegant narrow streets of the old town and visit some of the magnificent houses and the museum of Ronda. Visit the famous Ronda bullring home of the Matador and the oldest in Spain, now a museum. In the late afternoon we will collect you and transport you to the elegant City of Seville where you stay at the charismatic 4* Casa 1800 hotel in the Barrio Santa Cruz district or the lovely 4* Vincci La Rabida a converted Palace and spend the evening enjoying the delights and sights of this bustling impressive City. |
Day 4: |
In the morning you will visit the Cathedral and maybe the Archivo de Indias. We will meet you at the hotel at mid-day and we have a tapas lunch in the Barrio Santa Cruz. After lunch you will visit the Royal Alcazar one of the oldest Royal Palaces in Europe and we then take a walk past some of Seville's most impressive buildings to arrive in the Maria Louisa Park, the home of the amazing Plaza de Espana built for the Ibero-American exhibition of 1929. In the late afternoon we will set off and drive you to the medieval and atmospheric City of Cordoba, once the capital of the Moorish emirate of ‘Al Andalus’. Steeped in history and the home of the 'Mesquita' the largest Mosque in the western world, Cordoba was also the capital of the Roman Empire in Southern Spain. You stay at the 5* AC Cordoba Palacio Hotel near the old quarter and, Cordoba being the centre of gastronome in Andalucia, we suggest dining at the fabulous 'Restaurante Bandolero' situated right next to the Mesquita. |
Day 5: |
We will meet you at your hotel after breakfast and escort you around Cordoba. We walk through the old City Walls and into the pretty Barrio San Basilio and see one of the typical patios that Cordoba is famous for. The Royal Stables shows us some of the famous Andalucian horses in a lovely set of buildings. Onto the Christian Alcazar, nowhere near as grand as Seville, but designed in the Mudajar style a fusion of Moorish and Christian Gothic and the scene of famous historic events including the planning of the voyage of Columbus. The 1,000 year old Arab baths built for the Caliphs remind us of a society long gone and we wander through the Juderia visiting the old Jewish Market & the Synagogue. A great tapas lunch in the Bodega Mesquita followed by the highlight of the day into the spectacular Mesquita, the greatest Mosque in the Western World and the only one with a Cathedral right in the centre of it. The famous Puente Romano bridge awaits demonstrating why Cordoba was the capital of the Roman empire in the Iberian Peninsula. At the end of the afternoon we will transport you to the beautiful Cortijo Las Salinas, located in the stunning countryside near the historic town of Alcala la Real. Here you will have a home cooked dinner prepared by the English owners Steve and Stefi. You stay the night at the Cortijo relaxing in the wonderful setting. |
Day 6: |
You have breakfast at the Cortijo, spend the day relaxing, reading, painting, walking, take lunch there and in the afternoon we transport you to the historic City of Granada where you stay at the 5* AC Palacio Santa Paula, a converted monastery right in the centre of the City and a stone’s throw from the Cathedral. Spend the evening having dinner at the award winning restaurant in the hotel or around the pretty square of the Bib Rambla close by. |
Day 7: |
In the morning we suggest you visit the incredible Baroque masterpiece church of San Juan de Dios close by. The church is acknowledged as the most beautiful church in Granada and possibly the whole of Spain. At lunch time we will meet you near the Cathedral and Royal Chapel, both of which are worth visiting, and after lunch we will have a wander around the old quarter of the City by the River Darro which is nestled between the two hills of Granada, the Seebka (the hill of the Alhambra) and the Albaycin. We transport you up to the Alhambra where you spend a few hours in the gardens and general areas and then you visit the fabulous Nasrid Palaces. In the evening we drive to the top of the atmospheric Albaycin and have dinner at the Restaurante Jardines de Zoraya, which includes a live performance from a talented local Flamenco Group. After dinner we walk to see the magnificent Alhambra lit up at night, with the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains, from the Mirador at San Nicholas before taking you back to the AC Palacio de Santa Paula Hotel. |
Day 8: |
Subject to flight times, we leave you to have some free time in Granada and then collect you for your journey back to Malaga Airport. We will either take you directly to Malaga airport or take you to spend some time in the historic town of Antequera, home of the 5,000 year old Dolmenes and the wonderful National Park of El Torcal. |
Please note:
We can offer an extension to the 5* Plus Tour with an extra day at Cortijo
Las Salinas, making the tour a 9 day/8 night experience. If you wish to include
this in your tour then we will schedule a trip to the historic town of Alcala
la Real and/or Priego de Cordoba in the Subbetica National Park
